Lake Michigan Campground, Hiawatha National Forest

This is a rather sprawling, rustic campground stretches out along a bluff between U.S. 2 and Lake Michigan. About half the sites are on the lake, while the remaining back up on the highway, so traffic noise is heard at all the campsites.
Each campsite has a picnic table and a fire ring. Firewood available from the camp host(ess). Water spigots are located through out the campground.
Most of the sites are shady. There are a number of vault toilets through out the campground. The one I used was quite clean.
No electric/showers/WiFi.
Not really a "destination" campground, but certainly adequate for the traveller. I didn't get to check out the picnic area, where perhaps there is a better beach area (?)
No camping supplies at the campground and I don't recall anything close by
While I was there, I was invited over to the campsite across from me for dinner, by a great family!

As a 7th grader my neighbor had the contract to haul the trash from this and the other USFS campgrounds the area. He hired me as his helper so three days a week I hauled the trash out of this campground
I always wanted to camp there. Years later on my early motorcycle trips I camped there. Dusty is correct about the highway noise.
The lake level was very high this past summer so there was not much for a beach area. Most years when the water level is at a lower level there is a nice sand beach there.

As I recall there was a few pull thru sites but most were back in.
