I'm not as energetic as Dusty. Mules are the way to go. If you ever consider it, may I suggest the north rim. Much less crowded and reservations are easier.

Isn't that what they have mules for? Unfortunately, I believe there is a weight limit, hence I'd have to hoof it!

I was in my mid 50s when I hiked down and back to the Colorado River, from the North Rim of the GC the same day

Try to hike down an up the Grand Canyon of the east.I for got the number of steps,My wife and I WERE IN OUR late 60's ,She sat at the top while I did it.I havn't been back.

It actually took me @30 minutes to get up the spunk to get on the 160' rope to repell the last drop into this valley but once having done it felt a whole lotta respect for crawling on the edge of life.

True, it's a rush. In a previous thread where I described an EarthRivers trip, we rappelled off a 300 foot sheer wall. Had to stop at the 150 foot point and change ropes. On the way down, I accidentally touched the carabiner, it was burning hot.

You've missed a lot being unable to get past those fears.
It actually took me @30 minutes to get up the spunk to get on the 160' rope to repell the last drop into this valley but once having done it felt a whole lotta respect for crawling on the edge of life.

yes and no I did danle under a helicpoter at 1000 feet during a stabo operation it was fun. I let someting by not all. Once they walked out to the part where no footing I stopped. Love the video thank ya. I will keep 2 wheel on the road

Be sure to come up I 15 to Kolob Canyon and hike the backside of Zion. Just as pretty but less visitors.

Very true Ken, Zion is great. I've camped, hiked and repelled there back in the early 80s while living in St. George. Awesome views.
And yes you can dehidrate there. Proper hydration is very necessary in the desert.
