Those burros are a mess I like to stop in Custer and pick up a couple bunches of carrots and some apples...organic, of course, and give them a little treat. Gotta watch those fingers, though.

The only thing that ever bothered me about all the wildlife out there were the buffalo (Bison), I try to stay as far as possible from them. I'd hate to have one just bump up against me on the bike...

Wasn't sure how aggressive the burros may become when we had no snacks for them, since we were on the bike..but they would make a stop at each vehicle only long enough to see if there was food being handed out, then move on...very gentle. Now the buffalo...never trusted those animals and tried to avoid eye contact when they were nearby, certainly did not try and crowd them at all if they were crossing if front or simply sauntering down the road...think they may be a little unpredictable and I did not wish any sort of confrontation...

Something about a thousand pound animal with horns staring at you to make you wish you were somewhere else...

I can tell you that the bison will charge a motorcycle. Just give them a wide berth and don't do stupid stuff like get off your bike and try to get close up pictures of them. I watched a full dress harley get the rear of the bike lifted off the ground and pieces of the saddle bags go flying. I also watch a leather tail trunk ripped off another bike. I left my bike sitting in the middle of a lane and spent some time in the back of a pickup waiting for the herd to pass. They get extra aggressive when they have calves with them.

Yup, .... I give them a wider berth than I do a bear, be it black, or Griz!!!

They are wild, dumb and can be very ornery!!

A friend of mine left his bike at the side of the road and climbed into a motorhome behind him till a herd/pack of buffalo cleared the road...The motorhome owners saw his predicament and invited him in till all animals had moved on down the road.
