Congrats on the wolf sighting, as they are as rare as Mountain Lion sightings.

I have only seen each 4 times in the wild, in my life time of tramping around the outdoors!
Both are by nature, very shy and reclusive

I just came down the Alcan. Got into Spokane on the 3rd. Traveling down to highway 12 from Couere d' alene tomorrow and to Lolo pass on the 4th or 5th. , then to Yellowstone and beyond. Crappy wifi connections at a few Mcdonalds , so haven't had time to post much my self. Saw 15 black bear on the Alcan. Met a guy at Whitehorse heading north and he saw 19 in one day. If you have any questions about the road I will answer when I can find wifi. Have a safe trip.

This will be short tonight. Just got settled into the motel in Minot. The day was enjoyable and smooth until about 40 miles short of Minot. Then a storm warning interrupted my regularly scheduled oldies broadcast. It indicated a storm about to strike Minot with winds of up to 60 mph and hail with heavy rain and lightning. I could see a huge anvil shaped cloud right in the center of the road ahead and it was getting closer every time I looked up. Eventually I found a state hiway that ran south at right angles to US2. It took us out of the worst threat and found us a dry spot to wait most of it out. Tomorrow is a short day and it will be welcome.

I ran into a similar storm in that area as we had to detour south of Minot, due to flooding then. (July 6) Never had/has my bike been so dirty from all the clay/mud the heavy Fracking equipment had dragged out onto the highways!

Sounds like you'll be in either Shelby, or Cut Bank, MT by tonight.
Shelby has more and cheaper choices of motels.

Easy ride over to Glacier and beyond, tomorrow.

Views of the mountains will start coming hard n fast, once west of Cut Bank.

Re: Snowclem and Curt to Alaska

Day 3 was scheduled as a shorter day. We spent the night at a friend of Curt"s from his Pennsylvania days in Fort Peck. They fed us and listened to our tales and were great hosts in all respects.

Day 4 ends in St Mary's KOA. I got here early enough to take a ride down 89 and 47 and checked out the NPS campground at Two Sisters. I also took a short hike to a nice waterfall near it. There is still a lot of snow up high and the falls were running full, so it was a good picture. The wifi is metered here so I won't be uploading any pics from here. Tomorrow we head for Canmore and another shortish day, but I wanted a whole day for the Icefields PKWY.
