    APPLE BURRITOS

    started using this recipe many years ago, on canoe/camping trips

    it is a great morning, GET YOU GOING morning meal as well as a delightful desert

    none of the ingredients require refrigeration, making this recipe very MOTOCAMPER FRIENDLY


    BREAKFAST BURITTO’S

    A GREAT CAMPING BREAKFAST, REQUIRING NO REFRIGERATION

    MOST FUNN WHEN COOKED OVER A CAMPFYRE IN “EL DISCO” (THE INFAMOUSE 24” PLOW DISC W/ HORSE SHOES 4 HANDLES, WHICH APPROXIMATES A 17” –20” SKILLETTE), W/ A COVER & USING A WOODEN SPOON/SPATULA 2 STIR & SERVE.

    THIS IS KNOT A DAINTY DISH 2 B EATEN FRUM A PLATE W/ CIVILIZED UTENSILS. BEST WHEN SERVED RITE OUTA THE PAN & HELD IN A PAPER TOWEL, THE STRONG KIND, KNOT A FRILLY KNAPKIN. & B SURE 2 REMIND THE FOLKS 2

    LEAN 4WARD 2 EAT

    THE DRIPPINS, & THERE WILL B DRIPPINS, R HARD ON FANCY TOGGS.

    MAKIN’S:

    * 10# BAG OF GRANNY SMITH APPLES (1 – 1&1/2 MED – SM APPLES/
    PERSON, WHEN SERVED AS A MEAL AND LESS 4 USE AS A TOPPING OR DESERT)

    * 2# SACK OF BROWN SUGAR (U PROLLY WONT USE ALL OF IT)

    * BAG OF CRAISINS (BLACK OR WHITE RAISINS ALSO WK. THE CRAISINS
    GIVE THE DISH ANOTHER FLAVOUR 2 PULL @ YOUR TASTE BUDDS)

    * 1 LG HAND FULL OF CRACKED WALNUTS (PECANS BEING 2ND CHOICE)

    * BUTTER FLAVOURED CRISCO, THE HARD KIND ( REAL BUTTER BURNS )

    * GROUND CINNAMON

    * EXTRACT OF CHOICE (RUM, MAPLE, VANILLA, BUTTERY VANILLA…)

    * A BATCH OF LIMES (10 SM – MED, 6-8 LG)

    * HD PAPER TOWELS

    * SMALL TORTILLAS(2-3 / PERSON)

    HOW 2 GO ABOUT IT:

    * CORE, DO KNOT PEAL, THE APPLES, MAKIN SURE 2 GIT ALL
    THE SEEDS OUT

    * CHUNK ‘EM IN2 PCS APROX THE SIZE OF A MAN’S THUMB KNUCKLE

    * SQUEEZE LIME JUICE OVER THE RAW APPLES

    * MELT THE CRISCO IN EL DISCO(SKILLETTE) UNTIL U HALF NO MORE THAN A 1/4” OF LQD COVERIN THE BOTTOM

    * U WANT THE TEMP HIGH ENUFF 2 GIVE JUST A SLOW BUBBLE IN THE GREASE, KNOT FRYIN/BLISTERIN HOT

    * ADD ABOUT 3/4THS OF YOUR APPLE CHUNKS & COVER

    * THE APPLES MAKE WATER & U WILL KNEAD 2 ALLOW SUM OF IT 2 ESCAPE, FRUM TYME 2 TYME

    * AS THE APPLES BEGIN CHANGIN COLOUR, ADD A HAND FULL OF BROWN SUGAR, A HEALTHY SPRINKLE OF CINNAMON AND A GLUGG OF EXTRACT. STIRR IN

    * AS THE SUGAR MELTS AND BEGINS CARMELIZING, ADD A BIT MORE

    * KEEP COVERED AND STIRRED, MAKEING SURE U DON’T ALLOW THE MIXTURE 2 GUM UP ON THE BOTTOM OF EL DISCO/SKILLETTE (THIS IS WHERE THE WOODEN SPOON/WOODEN SPATULA SHOWS IT’S COLOURS, ALLOWING U 2 USE A BIT OF FORCE W/O ADDING LITTLE CURLS OF METAL 2 YOUR BURITTO’S)

    * WHEN ABOUT 1/2 OF THE APPLES HALF CHANGED COLOURS, ADD A GOOD HAND FULL OF CRACKED WALNUTS, ABOUT THE SAME AMT OF CRAISINS, A SPRINKLE OF CINNAMON & A GLUGG OF EXTRACT

    * JUST B4 THE ALL OF THE APPLES HALF SOFTENED, ADD THE REST OF THE APPLES

    * COVER AND ALLOW THE LAST BATCH OF APPLES 2 WARM, NOT SOFTEN, JUST A BIT

    * SERVE ON A FLOUR TORTILLA

    * PLACE TORTILLA ON/IN HD PAPER TOWEL

    * SERVE SM AMT OF APPLES ON TORTILLA

    * FOLD BOTTOM OF TORTILLA UP

    * FOLD SIDES OF TORTILLA OVER CENTER (KINDA LIKE A DIAPER)

    * WRAP W/ HD PAPER TOWEL, MAKIN SURE 2 GIT THE BOTTOM COVERED

    LEAN 4WARD 2 EAT

    NOTE 1: THE PROCESS IS PART OF THE PARTY, LET THE GAWKERS HELP CUT THE APPLES ( WHOLE PROCESS TAKES ABOUT AN HOUR )

    i hope some of you have a chance to try this one

    it works best for a group, though i have used it for just a few, w/ great success

    seldom do i ever have any left over

    ALL MEASUREMENTS ARE APPROXIMATE, w/ 1 - 1.5 apples per person being a good average for a morning meal

    This recipe looks great. As I was reading it, about half way through it, I kept feeling like someone was yelling at me.

    Then I realized it was just the caps lock was on. I could start breathing again and my color returned to my face.
