Follow these steps if you are unsure of the freshness of your yeast.

I'm thinkin it's a whole lot quicker to just read the expiration date on the package ...

I've done so much with so little for so long ... Now I can do nearly anything with almost nothing.

but it could still be all right that's why I proof my yeast as a lot of times mine sits to long and this is easier than going to the store

I like making Rye bread in my bread maker
also I make a combination of whole wheat and white (1/2 wheat flour !/2 white flour) as I never have had any success with a straight whole wheat recipe in my maker
near as I can figure is its a gluten problem

Thumbs up Re: I am bored!

I believe with this crew there will be a bread baking contest for the next N.W.C.
I will volunteer to test and judge the submissions to this contest.

    Cheers,

If I can make it I too will be a judge, with or without butter!
Fresh bread and I mean fresh needs no butter and definitely no margarine/oleo!

    Re: I am bored!

Thanks for all the tips. I used fleishmans yeast, and whole wheat flour baked in my electric oven. The bread rose fine but when baked it collapsed some? Not as bad as in the past. At least it looked like bread this time.

    Re: I am bored!

If there is anything my mom thought me about baking bread when I was a child it was "no running or jumping in the house till it's out of the oven". No loud noises either, not sure how much of it was for the sake of the bread and how much was for her sake but her bread was always delicious, and as soon as it came out she would coat it with butter to create a tasty crust.
So iacornfed, were you jumping and running while it was baking?
