Thread: Waubonsie State Park

    Waubonsie State Park

Located in SW IA near Hamburg. Nothing special. It is a State Park. We held an event there with weekend camping. The park employees were friendly and helpful. The park is quite and in a good location for riding in the Losses Hills.

The facilities are modern and well cared for. Amenities are available across the river, within 10 miles. They have everything from primitive to cabins. I would avoid the "Cooks Cabin" but the others are nice.

I live roughly an hour from Waubonsie and love to camp and just go hiking there. My family may be weird, but we love winter camping and hiking in snow. We were there one Saturday last February and it was beautiful, but at 18deg F we kept walking to keep warm. Really rosey cheeks after that one. Beautiful place.

Nothing wrong with camping in the snow, been doing it for long time.
