    Re: weather apps

I use Radar Now for local radar, Intellicast for national radar map, Weather Underground for apps and for serious weather report I read the Noaa text off the browser. I studied weather for the hot air ballooning I was into.

I'm also a big fan of Radar Now.

Not a lot of bells and whistles, just the Radar. Because of it's simplicity it doesn't take a lot of time to load up, even when reception is poor.

Once I was just about to break camp when I checked the app. It showed a nasty storm closing in very close by. I couldn't see any tell-tale signs in the sky but, sure enough, within a short while...BAM! If I hadn't checked the app, I'd have been caught in the open with my tent already down. It's been a real help on many occasions.

It's my most used weather app.
I don't need a compass to know which way the wind shines.

    Re: weather apps

Before a trip I use Weather.com and Accuweather.com on my pc.

During a trip I use NavWeather on my Zumo which includes a real time weather radar map, plus a lot more, all at the touch of a button.

Have used NavWeather's radar map to navigate groups in between thunderstorm cells before, it continues to pay for itself IMHO.

Weather Underground has been my mainstay for over 6 years. Really easy to use on the road.

Another vote for Weather Bug. Good interface, radar, hourly display.

    Re: weather apps

Started using weather underground a couple of months ago after accuweather upgraded it's look and I didn't care for it. Weather underground has been accurate and the radar is nice with the options to see actual updates from other users on the current weather.

I also like the Weather Bug. You can have quick links to several cities of your choice and if you have location turned on it will give you the current weather at your location. At the bottom of the screen you can tap the radar screen and see the local radar, which is very handy when trying to avoid bad weather.

This app works pretty well. Need zip, or city.
