that luxury map doesn't pack small, that's for sure. i might look into an exped mattress some time since they pack down so small, but i'm in no hurry. i have room on the bike for the big thermarest

Sounds much like my set up. Wish I had more room on the bike for it but it's worth the extra packing to get a good nights rest!

Re: Thermarest Luxury Map -- The Perfect Sleeping Pad?

Just to update this review and report on the mattress one year later.... I sold it. Based on its significant size, it would have had to have been pretty amazing for me to have stayed with it. I'm afraid that for motocamping purposes, I can only give it about 2 out of 5 stars. It was slow to inflate and would only self-inflate about half way at best. Furthermore, it was simply taking up too much space. The new Big Agnes insulated Q-core is 4" thick and 1/3 the size of the Luxury pad. And with the Thermarest NeoAir Mini Pump (fits in the palm of your hand), it's a no-brainer for me. Hope this helps.

So..Dusty, what is your sleeping pad of choice now that you have moved up to the Aspen?

I still use the Exped Synmat 9 Pump Dlx, only I don't inflate it as much.
It packs smaller/more compact than any self inflater of the same size

So, you are using the Exped ON TOP of the Sentrys' mattress pads? Do you roll up the deflated Exped and store it or simply leave it deflated on top of the mattress pads when traveling?
