    Loleta Campground, Allegheny National Forest

Here is a very nice campground for those that like electric at your site. For those of you who don't need it, the campsites are not so nice, requiring you to hike down from the grass parking pad to your campsite, located on the side of a fairly steep hill on the other side of the campground. The campground is split in half by Loleta road, with the primitive sites on one side and the electric sites on the other side of Loleta road. (not the campground road)

When I got a look at the primitive sites, I decided to spring for the extra $6 fee and have a nice, level campsite that I could park right beside/near my tent, without the hike.

This campground was built by the CCC and is spread out a bit, with the campsites having electric on one side of the road, the primitive campsites on the other, higher up on a hillside and the swimming/picnic area, where the showers are located, between the both of them, along both sides of Millstone Creek. All in all, a nice, quiet campground, with only a few other campers present at time of visit.

Most kinds of supplies can be obtained 5 mi to the north, in Marienville, PA.

    Hey Dusty,

Thanks for the write up and photos. Looks like a nice place
    with a reasonable price.
The campground is only a couple hours away from me.
I may run up there for a weekend to check out my gear for
    cool weather camping.

    Thanks for the info.

I've ridden through the Allegheny National Forest several times on my way to somewhere else. I was just telling Mrs. Menhir that it might be nice to actually stay there on a weekend camping trip sometime.

    Nice area, too.
I don't need a compass to know which way the wind shines.
