    White Lake State Park

Stayed here over night in 2010 just after Labor Day. There are two areas, area 2 was closed for the season so we were camped in area 1. Pretty good site, level and smooth. Facilities were fairly clean. Nice large beach, although we didn't go in.

Fast forward to July 2012. We reserved 3 sites for 7 adults an 1 four year old in the older section. The sites were pretty well worn out. Lots of roots and the remaining spaces were dish shaped areas that collect water nicely. Fill would have needed to be brought in over the years to prevent this. However this is common in New England. The shower, although hot, cost $0.25 for one minute, down from about two minutes for our first visit.

The best part of the park is the lake and large sandy beach. The water is crystal clear and was quite warm when we were here. Our stay was Sunday thru Thursday, so the beach was relatively empty, mostly campers, unlike weekends when the day users pack the place.

It's located just south of Conway in Tamworth. Go for the lake and central location. The campground is your aaverage state park.
