    Harmonie State Park, Indiania

Harmonie Park is located a few miles south of New Harmonie, Indiania. A very nice park that has a reputation of having numerous white tail deer. There is a dailey use fee for non-campers and a lot of traffic comes in around sunset to watch the deer come out of woods to feed. Lots of sites to see in New Harmonie and is known for fine dining at the Red Geranium hotel and resturant. Numerous antique shops and buildings from a bygone era.

New Harmony is worth a visit, interesting history. Original settlers ("Shakers" religious sect) finally gave up when the Malaria and lack of new members dragged them down. Thriving flower and garden seed business before that. Many of the original buildings have been preserved/restored.

Never stayed at the park. Seen enuff deer.

Stayed there Saturday and Sunday. $56 for 2 nights with electric. Nice shady camp sights with gravel pullins. Showers were typical Indiana State Parks, push the button every 15 seconds for barely warm water. The park has a beautiful view of the river.

Don't bother eating at New Harmony unless you can get into the Yellow Tavern. One restaurant was sky high and the other we couldn't get waited on. The guy left the counter where you order and never came back. Wadesville has the Froggy restaurant and Mt. Vernon has many choices. Both are 10 miles away.
