Thread: Beer Bread

    Beer Bread

    I used this recipe:

    http://www.motherearthnews.com/Real-...ad-Recipe.aspx

    I used this beer:

But I think I may have cooked it just a tad too long and too hot (or else the "Skullsplitter" beer really does...):

But the inside was very tasty:

So I'll definitely give this one a try again...

Sounds good. I'll have to try that here at home.

I always use beer in my biscuits instead of milk.

Our Hunting camp cook used to make the best Beer Banana Pancakes I've ever had. I do remember he opened the bottle the night before to let the beer go flat. Said it wouldn't cook right with a fresh beer.

Mac makes some of the best biscuits I ever enjoyed while camping. He seems to always make enough for everybody.

The 3 batches I made this morning in Spearfish weren't enough for all hands!!! Several guys and gals slept a bit late, so they missed out. I may have to make 4 batches tomorrow!!!

I gotta one'a Macs biscuits as I was preparing mine at NatSTOC. Good thing too as I burned up the first two I tried! The coals were WAY hotter'n I expected. Mac uses charcoal so has much better temp control.

(I use his recipe but his are still a lot purtier than mine. )

    Re: Beer Bread

I have been kneading the dough like the Bisquick recipe calls for, and they rise higher than when I don't knead the dough. Funny how that works when ya follow instructions!!! Oh, and I use a soup can to cut my biscuits and George just throws the whole wad in the pan and lets it rip/burn.

George's rise fine, they just have a little bark (BBQ Term) on 'em. The insides were good though....
