    Rain cover tarps for luggage

I have a canvas cargo bag that I use for traveling. I store it on the back seat of my bike. Its 29 long, 12 wide, and 10 high. Im trying to find a rain cover tarp to keep it and my gear dry on my trip next week.

Items that Ive found on line are vague on their dimensions, and I looked at some waterproof traps, but theyre too big for what I need.

Does anyone have any suggestion of a product that can cover my cargo bag, or a creative solution to my problem?

It’s not very attractive, but I have used a quality garbage or leaf bag in a pinch! You could always double them up. I’m a fan of waterproof roll top duffel bags.

I’ve used oversized trash bags to line the inside of my cargo bag. That was for added protection for a one day road trip with good weather. My next trip will have me on the road for a few days with possible rain in the forecast. I’d worry about a trash bag blowing loose, or not being as waterproof as I’d like. It’s my back up plan for now, but I’m hoping to do better.

How about Camp Dry spray or other tent waterproofing spray? Maybe two coats? Not sure how to protect the zippers from leaking or whatever openings are in the bag. I would look at contractor trash bags, they are very heavy and larger than plain trash bags. A 29 x 12 x 10 bag should fit easily in a contractor bag. Put a stretch cargo net over the bag to keep the wind from tearing it.

I have about 2-3 contractor that I plan to use as my fall back. It occurred to me that I have a waterproof tarp just for my bike and that I could adapt it to cover my cargo bag too. I'l going to do a run through of what I'm going to pack and then see if the tarp will work as well.

How about just a tarp? I used that in my earlier camping days on my concours. Packed up my gear bag, and then wrapped it up in the tarp like a burrito. I then used the tarp under my tent....so it served multiple functions.

Line your bag with a trash compactor bag which you can roll down tight. I did that for a long time but once I started traveling a lot I got a waterproof duffel that sat on my luggage rack or rear seat. I use the 40 litter for all my clothing and stuff but if you have camping gear you don't want to get wet look at the 80L

Re: Rain cover tarps for luggage

Thanks everyone for all the great links and suggestions. I ended up ordering a Nano Heat blanket due to its size, water resistance and price.

It's funny that another member said to burrito wrap my cargo bag in a tarp, because those where the exact words I used in another forum about how I would use the blanket.
I've bookmarked many of the posted links for future reference as I may look into a dedicated waterproof tail bag for future trips. If I properly Ranger wrap my clothes I'll have lots of room for my camera gear and accessories in my cargo bag for motovlogging my trip.

Once again thank you, everyone, for your help and assistance.
