    New GL1800 Goldwing

Anyone with a new Goldwing pulling a tent trailer? What hitch and how does it compare with the earlier model GL1800's?

I can't comment on the hitch thing, but Welcome to the board!!

    Thanks Pooch2,

I've been riding a 2003 GL1800 pulling a 97 Kwik Kamp II. I'd tried pulling the KK with a Yamaha FJR but didn't like the way the KK pushed it around in downhill corners. The downside of the 03 GL is the lack of leg room -- amazing for such a big bike.

    I installed a Bushtech hitch on a friend's 2018.
It fits very well. Yes the same quality as the earlier wing hitches they made.

Thanks for the confirmation on the Bushtech hitch.

Just completed 7100 mile cross country trip on an 2018 GL1800, Rivco hitch and a Mini Mate trailer. No issues with anything. Mileage averaged 36 MPG over the trip of mostly hiway speeds of 70+ mph. A note about the hitch if you plan on using a 195/55 run flat tire, it will rub against the hitch frame on both sidewalls. I had to go back to the standard MC tire.

    That's interesting
The stock tire size is 200X55. I'm not questioning you, but something is out of spec.

The 195 is from my 06 Wing and is tad smaller than the stock 200. If the 195 rubs then the 200 will as well. I'm just glad I didn't purchase a new tire to find out that the Rivco design inhibits the use of a CT.

brian603, just curious, what C/T were you using? I have used 5 different 195/55/16 C/T's and no rubbing, but I have a Bushtec hitch on my 2010. I pull a Leesure Lite Excel and a Bushtec TurboII cargo trailer.

I've been using Bridgestone Run Flats. On my 06 it was fine but the 18 and a Rivco hitch is a combination that does not work as the tire rubs against the hitch. It's just too wide and I don't want to modify the hitch.
