    I use coleman big size think its 39 wide good for cold also tried a mummy and lasted about 1 hour !!!! If i cant roll over i'm not gonna sleep. They make roll up bags ( for your clothes ) like zip lock vacumn type but dont need vacumn. Ya roll them to get air out. Will get you more room for other stuff .

    The bag I mentioned in my post is a mummy bag.
    You're right...I hated it at first too.
    I missed the room of a regular sleeping bag, but like a lot of things, I eventually got used to it.

    It may not be for everyone.
    I don't need a compass to know which way the wind shines.

    Or, pack the smaller bag but include a bag liner. A silk liner takes up almost no room at all and feels great when it gets chilly. A fleece liner takes up slightly more room than that but is nice and toasty.
