Introduction... Once upon a time there was a guy named Hoovooloo (Jeff)...

    Hi all,
Just introducing myself and avoiding shoveling the snowy driveway. It's 16 degrees and snowing here in Chicago and I'm missing being out on my bike. I've done a fair bit of riding in the past, and I've done a lot of camping. But, I've not done much motocamping. I know, I know. This is to be corrected. Hence, I have bought, scrounged, fixed up and gathered together everything I think I shall need to do so. My friends think I have a screw loose. I know I do. But, the road and campsites call to me. So, I must answer. I've already selected my first trip and will await warmer weather. I figure a shake down trip consisting of an overnight stay at a nice campground should get me going. After that.... we'll see. Anyone have thoughts about Mississippi Palisades State Park in NW IL? Good sites / bad sites? Suggestions?

Anyway, I'm glad to find this group since I don't really have anyone interested to motocamping. I'm sure I'll look to you all for information, ideas and inspiration.

    Your new friend,
    Hoovooloo (Jeff)

We have a sub forum on here for park/campground reviews broken down by states, you may like to peruse,
Just so happens to be a review of your campground in question.

Welcome to the forum from Missouri. This is a great group of people to learn from. I joined a few years ago for
the same reasons. I've ridden motorcycles and camped for years but never put the two together. When I first
told my wife and friends I was going camping with some folks I met on the Internet they thought I was crazy.
Turned out to be a very rewarding experience for me. Hope you can join us at some of the events being planned.
You may want to start the season with a trip down to The Moonshine Lunch Run on April 14th. You've never seen
so many motorcycles in one place. Here's a link to a discussion about it.

Welcome from South Texas. Shoveling snow is good exercise I hear. It was 82 here yesterday and no snow. Enjoy the forum.

    Greetings and welcome aboard.
You should consider Jeff's idea for the Moonshine run. You can stay out at the farm. Definitely not your typical campground, but it's free. Plus there'll be two or three dozen out there and it's a good way to meet some folks.
