Appears to make it stiff. Thank you for the video.

However it is a lot less work.

One of my first piece of kit was cotton waxed pants made by Barber. I think that's the correct name. They were stiff but would loosen after they heated up to your body heat. Anyway they used to sell rewaxing stuff. I have an outback long horse back riding coat that is waxed cotton, turns water great. But I would think any of them would be stiff when cold. Just my 2 cents.

Thank you for the comments, I'm still pondering a solution, waxing or a repellent. It is a shame scotch guard was taken off the market. Well maybe not since the stuff never degrades.

Back in my old cross country dirt riding days "1970s" I wore BELSTAFF trailmaster professional waxed cotton motorcycle riding jacket and pants. warm and waterproof.

The waxing of cotton will work far better and last longer than any wash in, or aerosol treatment will!

Let's discuss wax treatments for cotton. I'm looking for easy, not stiff, and no odor. Any other suggestions other than what has already been presented?

This isn't used as a riding jacket. I will be looking for good rainproof clothing to go over riding gear, soon, not yet though.
