    Little Buffalo State Park

Doing another PA state park...once again taking our dog Willow with us, so not on two wheels. But since this is a campground not in the list, will still do a review of the campground.

Small campground with 43-45 site 28 with electric and 12 with no electric. Full facilities including hot showers and restroom, potable water supply, fire rings and camp store.

    8 miles of hiking trails.

More to follow...maybe even some pictures.

Had to cancel our trip to this CG due to a death in the family. Will go some other time...

    Re: Little Buffalo State Park

Finally got to go to this CG...and it was NOT meant to be! WE tried to go without reservations and there were two available campsites, HOWEVER, this was really not a very nice CG in my opinion. Campsite were VERY close together, not well laid out and the road in and out was a lot of deep gravel! While circling the CG, the road out is steep and very thick of gravel, to the point of deep divots where apparently cars or trucks had trouble getting out. With the Wing and out BH trailer..we also had trouble navigating the terrain and did actually go over (minor scratches due to the gravel...ordered some touch up paint). Bunch of campers came to our rescue, but at that point I was not about to circle the CG again. Needless to say we did not stay at the CG and got on the road hoping to find another CG (which we did not!). I would not recommend this CG if you are on a bike. For such a large park, the campground was rather small...must have been an after thought!

That's a shame, too bad you suffered a few scratches too!
Part of the problem is when we look on Google maps or Bing maps we only see the flat image. Even if you try the "3D" or "Birdseye View" all it does is contort the image slightly, you don't see a realistic topographic view/image. I found my wife and I in a similar situation once, she hopped off the bike (to scared to ride up, she opted to walk) and I rode the bike on the side. Edge of the lawn I guess you could call it, the ruts were far too deep for the bike and gravel was loose. I was sweating by the time I got to the top and the elevation was only about 35-40' but the length was short causing it to be too steep.
Guess that proved I was too stupid and suborned, but I conquered it (luckily)!
