    Red Shale Campground

Way back in 2015, my then girlfriend and I rode by this campground and with it being later in the day, passed it by. Flash forward 2 years and now my wife and I were in the cage this time and stopped in for a look-see. Wow, nice isolated campground, perfect for an overnighter on the way to who knows. To top it all off, it's a free campground. We took time oout of our trip for an impromptu picnic.

No water, so no showers as well. Not my choice of places to stay unless I've got an RV with generator, toilet, water/gray/black tanks, propane stove, etc.

    Re: Red Shale Campground

I've had that campground 'penciled in' a couple of times to spend the night at when riding between the Billings, MT and Belle Fourche, SD areas a number of times.
As long as there's a picnic table and toilet facilities of some kind, that is all I need for 1 night! Can't beat the price!!
Water would be easily obtained at any of the service stations on either side of it.

    Thanks for the quick review!

I love rustic camping and love it even more if well-forested!

my kind of place!...quiet, clean, rustic, & no $,...as long as it is safe/secure...looks to be patrolled by your harnessed kitty who can "check for recent scents"!
