I just got my new solo cot tent delivered yesterday.
Teton Sports Outfitter XXL Quick Tent. I got it from Amazon. It is a "customer return" so I got it for $52.00 vs the $70.00 price. (free shipping)
Here is the U tube video showing how fast it sets up.
Note: Most of the reviews on this tent has the tent paired with a cot that is too big for it. The tent does not fully cover the cot, so when it rains, the water runs under the cot, between the cot and the floor of the tent. A normal sized cot allows for the rain fly to more than cover the cot, there by protecting this from happening.
My old cot tent:
The old tent has sleeves and to route the poles through the sleeves took time. I usually had 15 minutes in putting up this tent. My 4 man tent went up much faster.
The new tent goes up in 60 seconds. It weights about the same as my old cot tent. 4.5 lbs. Not really back packing weight.
I can see the using this tent on "over night" camps or even a mid afternoon nap on a long day at a rest area or a picnic area. Opening up the cot, setting up the tent and rolling out my cot pad is 5 minutes. Packing up is the same. I have tried the "sleep" on the picnic table at the rest areas, only to be harassed not by other people but by flying misquotes, or biting flies.
When traveling with this cot tent, it would work as a quick shelter to ride out a thunderstorm.
It has limits on storing other bike cargo. This is not camping. lol This is finding a small spot off the road and catching some shut eye.
In the past, when traveling with the cot tent, when I ran into bad sustained weather, I was into a motel.
There is not a lot of extra room in this tent or any cot tent. When you go in there, be prepared. There is enough room for my jacket and boots at the end of the cot. My clothes are stored inside my sleeping bag to keep them warm for the morning.
I liked my cot tent. This is just a faster setup version.
