    Thomas Hill Reservoir, College Mound

I stayed for 3 nights at this very nice, free campground, located on the Shore of Thomas Hill Reservoir, about 2 mi west of College Mound, MO. (about 12 mi SW of Macon)
Each of the 10 sites have a covered picnic table, a fire ring and a view of the lake. There are an additional 9 campsites in the 'over flow' section, on top of the hill. There is 1 potable water hydrant up near the maintenance shed and a couple of clean vault toilets. No electric, firewood, showers or WiFi
The interior road and parking aprons are gravel.
Very quiet spot with a couple of other campers present when I was there.
There is a boat ramp which saw some use while I was there.
There was a lot of varied bird life present at the lake, including Pelicans!

Supplies can be had in Macon, some 12 mi distant. I'd definitely stay here again!

On the Monday night, a Tornado Warning was issued for the immediate area, but it passed to the west of me and provided a spectacular light show from 7:30 - midnight.

I would never go there. I live in Mo. and its Free.

You have to ride to at least the next state.

That is a rule. lol Good post.

Dusty next time your that close to me.
Ride to a McD's and email me. I will come
    camp with you.

36 across Mo. is a good ride for any one
going east -west. Traffic is light most times.

    Looks very nice.

Yup. although 36 is now 4 lane, like Mike says traffic is light. My favorite way to cross MO

Gorgeous photos, Dusty. Thanks for posting.

I rarely stay at "Free" sites, but perhaps it's time I gave that some thought. Those photos show a much more majestic and pristine site than most of them that I end up paying for.

That is really a beautiful, pristine looking FREE campground...could easily be a COE CG from the appearance. Now people will be flocking to this place. Thanks for the pics Dusty.
