Does anyone use this type of bag to haul water in? The large is about 2 1/2 gallon and it look tough enough to drop in a saddle bag and not worry to much about it.

I don't have one of those. I did try getting a collapsible plastic square 2-gallon thing from walmart but it was a pain to pack back into the original shape.
I bring a nalgene 32 oz bottle along all the time and just fill it as I need to from the campground
water source.

I looked at those too but they did appear they could be a pain to try to collapse again. I like the looks of these as they can handle freezing to boiling an looks like they would lay flat when empty.
Did you see where there is no potable water at PK?

We usually park at sites where there is water. I can't remember a time where there wasn't actually... Ah, there was one place in Greer's Ferry AR where the water was where the showers were so you did have to walk about 10 sites away to get it and maybe at Crater lake there wasn't water right at the site, can't remember.
I think Platypus also sells some of those that might even collapse better.

I've been using one of those for years. I think it's the 2 or 4 liter size. The bag packs flat when empty. I've never had a problem with it.

I did get to see the Dromlite (lighter weight) bag yesterday, it was very flat like two layers of fabric with a bump for the cap. Very compact empty :D
guess I had better call in and pay down my internet cc and place a order wed for a bunch of stuff REI did not have in the store ;)

I got a two liter version when they first came out about 12 years ago. There was a problem with the liner that made water taste extremely bad - seriously enough for a recall - so I exchanged it for a newer, corrected one. The second one sprung a leak almost immediately, but I patched it with RTV and I still use it.
I prefer 2 liter Platypus bladders for my drinking water, but I fill up the Dromedary and hang it from a tree to use for washing, teeth brushing, etc. The spigot is handy.
I also have a three liter Coleman jug that I equipped with a drinking tube and bungeed so it rests on the left passenger peg. It often does double duty as camp water if I'm in a dry camp.

Alan thanks for you thoughts on this, I looked at the spigot and thought it would be very handy but will probably wait a while on that, well at least a month or two :)

As an alternative, you can find spigots from other containers that will fit Platypus bladders. A pop-up dish soap cap will fit. Another thing I've done is take a standard soda bottle cap, poke a bunch of holes in it, and put it on a Platypus to use it as a hand-held shower. Penny tech, but works great.

And then there was the state park in Tucson where there were no showers and we had to go to a community center and shower in 78 degree water!!!!!!!

If you are looking for something that works well for showering, take a look at this Ortlieb bag.
I've been using it for deveral years now and have been pleased. Hung in the sun for a couple of hours it will give you tolerably warm water. Placed on a large sun warmed rock in the sun for a couple of hours will give you comfortably warm water. You do have to purchase the shower head seperately.
