I got one of these a couple years ago after a camping trip to Oklahoma during the summer.

I've only taken it with me and used it a handful of times since. But, it's great!

Have you ever camped during the summer when there wan't any breeze at all?
When taking the rain fly off didn't allow more air flow?
Or, when it's raining and it's the summer so the fly has to go on?
The inside of the tent can get very uncomfortable and even a minimum amount of air flow would make a difference.

This little jewel isn't light or slim and with the battery in it is a little weighty but.
But, hook it to your tent via the metal plate on one side of your tent and the light/magnet base
on the inside and you have a nice breeze that will allow you to fall asleep on the hottest of nights.

I just thought I'd bump this review since summer is apparently coming sooner than expected this year.... at least here in North TX.

I've only used this little gem a couple times but any of you that know what it's like to try and sleep in an area where there's not any air flow, the wind is'nt blowing and it's 90 degrees knows how miserable that can be. The amount of air this throws out is just enough to allow you to cool off after a summer day's riding and get some much needed sleep.

I could have used one of these last June while tenting at Americade, Lake George NY (2005).
It was muggy and just warm enough in early June to be very uncomfortable. There was absolutely no breeze and I didn't get much sleep. Ended up walking to the showers before sun up to wash the sweat off, and to have something to do, since I just laid there awake.
All night I kept thinking....if only a little breeze would blow....

I was at Roosevelt State Park last year in late June on the way to an ST event in NC and it was just as you said, muggy w/no breeze. I forgot I even packed the fan. I was standing there in shorts and t-shirt thinking, this is gonna be a misserable night...

I remmebered the fan and got it out, It's not an AC unit but it provides just enough breeze that if you are sweating, it will surely cool you off.

Before I got this I was in Kerrville, TX one August night and it was starting to rain.. but no breeze... so, It was a typicaly hot August Texas summer evening, probably in the 90's and it was raining a little so the rainfly was on... and no breeze... boy, that sucked big time... You always feel like just sitting in the rain and sleeping out in the open at that point... This fan would have helped out then too.

My wife and I were at the Coleman Outlet store in San Marcos this past Friday looking for a small backpacking cookware set and bought one of these little fans like Joe has for $9 and change. I was doubtful about how much air it would move, but played around with it when we got home and now think that it would be very useful for circulating the air on a muggy summer nite. Was at Sportman's Warehouse yesterday to get a 32 oz MSR fuel bottle and they were selling these fans for about $13.
Wanted to go camping this weekend but the 30 degree overnite low made me reconsider. Now if only that little Coleman fan had a heater element attached.

I like that one but I use an attic in my tent to keep my glasses at hand. Otherwise, this one would be great.

Do you actually have this one? Curious if it will attach more on the side of a tent or does it have to 'hang'?

I've got one of these Coleman Black Cat heaters. Works pretty well. And quiet.

I'm not really a coleman tent fan, I'm just a fan of any tent that sets up easy and doesn't leak...... :)

It will attach anywhere... It has a magnetic base and a steel plate...

I have hung mine pointed straight down from the gear loft. A couple of times I was attacked in the night by an errant propeller that came off the fan! That little breeze can make a surprising difference though.

Well.... I just bought one... I was assuming that it was like the model it was replacing... This one is much bigger and much heavier... It takes 4 D batteries (the previous model only took two)... And it is designed to be hung from the ceiling (it even calls itself a ceiling fan - instead of a tent fan)... I'll also probably 'go the extra route' and devise some method of letting the tent poles take most of the weight... Did I mention that it was much bigger... That won't stop me from taking it, just might keep me from taking something else too... As always, YMMV...

Bought mine last summer, what a smart move, wouldn't go without it!!! oh yea, works great in the cold with your heater to move the warm air around.

It will attach wherever you want, but it does hang straight down... It has the 'standard' magnet on one side, steel plate on the other type of attachment... (I don't have a clue why these threads are just now showing up)
