Loving the desert Agua Caliente has got to be one of my favorite places to visit. Its seasonal camping, closed between Memorial Day and Labor Day because of the heat. Its a county run park and the rangers do a great job of keeping it clean. The bath rooms are new and the showers free. The big attraction is the indoor geothermally heated therapeutic minneral pool.

The roads inside the park have all just recently been repaved. The view across the desert floor is awsome, either in the morning or in the afternoon shown here in this picture is me making dinner and enjoying the view of the shadows moving across the desert foor in the late afternoon.

The going price of a camp spot is $15 a night. Reservations are $19 with service charge. The website: http://www.co.san-diego.ca.us/parks/camping/agua_caliente.html allows you to check dates for availability and actually see a picture of the campsite itself. Getting a spot mid week is just a matter of showing up. Weekends and holidays reservations are a must. I like to plan a stay when the moon is full as the desert is a great place at night.
There is a small store just outside the front gate, can be considered walking distance for some. The owner Mark has beer, wine, and firewood along with ice and a small selection of canned goods, bacon, ice cream and the things needed while camping.
