I bought the Mountain Hardware Phantom 32 specifically for use on the AT. However, after using it a couple of time, it dawned on me that it would also be ideal for motocamping. I am currently riding an R1200GS with no bags, only a throw over bag behind me. This means space is at a premium.
The MH is a down filled 800 weight three season bag. It is extremely light weight mummy style one person sleeping bag. While there is also a 0' bag, I chose the 32' rating due to the fact that chances of me camping that far below zero comes in somewhere between slim and none. Also, I didn't like the thought of sweltering in the summer in a warmer bag. I have used it from 40' to 76' and, by zipping, unzipping the bag, have been able to sleep comfortably. I have used it in high humidity with no ill effects. It has remained warm when slightly damp (but it's not waterproof).
One of the greatt features of this bag is it's compactability. I can either put it in it's "air bag" which is the size of gym duffle bag, in it's "normal transport bag", about the size of a grocery shopping bag, or my favorite the "compact bag" which is about the size of a ONE POUND coffee can. This is ideal for my restricted room camping.
It has been durable, and have had no problems with either the outer shell, inner liner, or down filling. Once I learned to roll the whole bag over when I sleep on my side, it all came together and I have had many comfortable nights of sleep.
Complaints? Yes, one and that is why I gave it a 4 for satisfaction. It is only offered in a right side zipper. I am right handed and it is ackward to unzip the bag with my right hand on the right side. For a bag costing over $300, you would think they would give you the option of either side zipper. But, that is my only complaint.
I love this bag, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a bag with these features in this price range....
