I've always wanted a Swiss Army Knife. I bought a smaller one for my Dad for
his birthday last year and was really impressed by how tough and light the knife was.
So, I decided to get the Victorinox Swiss Army Camper Knife at Campmor (http://www.campmor.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productId=39210693&memberId=12500226).
It was $23 but nice and light and appears to be pretty tough. I like the blades that it comes
with and you gotta love having a toothpick and tweezers when you are messing with
firewood and getting splinters.
The one I got didn't have the camping emblem/text on it but that's okay, it just would
have been cool to have it.

I gotta tell you, I have had about 20 swiss army knives in my pocket over the years. I feel nekkid if it's not in my pocket. I must use it 4 or 5 times a day. The model I carry is the Victorinox Tinker model and the reason is basically because it has a real phillips screw driver.

I couldn't agree more, Joe and Brian! I have at least two of them and one my daughter gave me 11-12 years ago is always in my pocket. It's been literally, all over the world with me and on every mountain I've climbed. I've lost track of all the bottles of wine I've opened with the corkscrew :D , not to mention all the use I've put on the rest of the tools and blade.
I have another one with a small pair of pliers on it. Several years ago, back when I was a senior field engineer and servicing computers, etc., just for kicks, I'd walk into a customer location, put my fully equipped briefcase tool bag on the floor, pull out my trusty Swiss Army knive and open up the computer with it. It was sure an excellent ice-breaker with new customers--especially once they realized I had a whole briefcase full of tools. Got some real laughs!!!

I've got a deluxe tinker Victorinox that I've had for at least 12 years. I also feel naked if it's not in my pocket at all times. Whenever I have to fly anywere, the first thing I do at baggage claim is open up my suitcase and put that knife back in my pocket.

I love my swiss army knife I've had it that long I dont even know what model it is.
It has got a cork screw though..lol..
Its also got this blade??? whats it for??? I've used it for all sorts of things but I dont think I've got it right yet.
How do the rest of you maintain your knife? I spray mine with WD40 when ever the two meet and use a butchers steel to sharpen it.
The tweezers and tooth pick are long gone. Can I borrow your's If I get a splinter Joe.....TWEEZERS that is you can keep the tooth pick mate..LOL.

Re: The Hook. I've found this little tool to be very handy for tightening laces. Although I've used it primarily on my hockey skates, I've also used it on new hiking boots with rawhide laces when they're still overly stiff.

RE: The Hook,
I read somewhere that the hook aloud you to use the knife as a handle on a package tied with string or a bucket with a wire handle or similar object by slipping the string or wire into the hook.

I've got literally dozens of swiss army knives, many of them are custom made which allowed me to dump the tools I didn't need\want and put on the ones I did.
Currently here are my favorites.

For the keychain a silver tech midnite manager or minichamp is nice, the reason for the silvertech over the standard red or black one is because it uses a white LED instead of a red one. Neither have tweezers or a toothpick instead replacing them with the LED and a retractable pen.
If you want more info on swiss army knives check out the knife forums and scroll down to SOSAK or just check SOSAK online.

It's been a year, so this is a good bump.
I recently bought a Swiss Army Nomad, and like it quite a bit, but I have also ordered the One-Hand Trekker. I like the size of these knives, and they have a nice feel.

Ah, heck. Somebody has to be the spoil sport...
I carry a Leatherman brand on my belt when ever I ride (and most of the time otherwise). I had a Schrade tool before it. Until this year at Laughlin, I had neither owned nor wanted a Swiss Army Knife. I felt they were too big and bulky for what you got. My opinion.
I was given a (swiss army type) pocket knife promo in Laughlin. Kirby, Kirby and Kirby MC Lawyers is the name on it...and I really like the little devil, it is the size of a stock knife and with lots of tools and blades. And it's got rubber snubbers on it to keep it in your pocket....So I sorta have one....

I've carried a Wenger or Victorinox Swiss Army Knife every day since I was 14. For missing parts or replacing broken/worn out parts they are great to deal with. I just sent four frozen ones to Wenger and they sent me four new knives. Victorinox now owns Wenger.

I've had a Victorinox for about 10 years now. I'm missing the toothpick. Also carry a leatherman when out riding/camping.
