Well, last Friday I finally got cut from the work force. I really enjoyed helping develope, build, and test launch a paticular small cruise missile. My parts over for right now but told they may need me in another year. I arrived home and the wife say's that this is a good time for me to take off and do some camping.

My good friend Mike has a 1000 Trails membership so we head up to Idyllwild for a couple of nights to unwind and kick back. Hung out by the pool and just relaxed.
Just what I needed.

Looks like a good time, sorry to hear about the layoff but sounds like you were prepared for it. Tomorrow is my last 2 weeks unless some red tape gets handled LOL

Im really looking forword to SeaSToC unless iv'e found another job and it somehow keeps me from going. But thats seems like a long way off. Im sure I can squeeze a trip or two in before then.
Camping, I can alway's get off fairly cheap and always have a good time.:)

Sorry to hear about getting laid off, but a bike trip & camping should help make it a little better.

Exactly what I did when I got packaged out in March. I packed up my camping gear, and headed for Cheahaw (sp?) Mountain in Alabama. Have had an excellent riding year since! After working 80 hour weeks for several years, I was ready for a break/early retirement.
So enjoy it!

Well, sounds like a plan but I'd come back to a repossessed house, car and Honda asking for my bike back. Maybe someday though.

One question unrelated in many regards, where does someone find that nifty stove grill shown in the second picture? I have a single propane bottle mounted stove, and it is less than stable when I put my coffee pot on it. Looks like a slick solution.
thanks!

Sorry to hear about the lost job. Looks like you could make some money selling your cooking ideas!

Thanks,
Thats something I made myself after getting tired of balancing and trying to cook on top of my camp stove. Have made 5 of these now for others who wanted one. There not cheap as the grills bought from Percell Trench in Washington run about $35 each and requires two of them.
Take a look in my webshot below and look in the album 'Evolution of my campstove' and you can see how its made. If you have the tools and material it shows step by step how to make your own. Or let me know and I can set you up.
This settup is almost wind proff and uses very little fuel. I use two stoves with mine and move the heat around under everything where its needed. The whole settup except for the stoves breaks down and fits in the lid of one Jesse bag and weighs just 2 1/2 pounds.

Love the pictures. Wish I still lived in WA State, I would head over to Boeing Surplus to buy some materials (not sure it even exists anymore).
thanks!

Thanks all, wish I could say I was still drawing unemployment but it was time to get back to work. Unemployment just barely pay's the bills and someone else around here felt it was time to bring home a little more.;) I've been back to earning a living for almost 3 weeks now. No more mid-week slackers rides with the other slackers at BMW Sport Touring. The mid-week camping trips will not happen for some time too.:( But I can still do the weekend trips.:)
Got my job back at a place I worked for 5 vyears ago,RW Martin. Its just a 12 mile ride to work now. So, once again its rebuilding and doing service mods on DeHaviland Twin Otters.
This Otter usually sits on floats and will look like new in the near future.

Wings, we get a lot for rebuilding a set of wings and doing the necessary mods will extend there life for many more hours of use.

They look pretty ugly now but soon will look like new once again.

Man! Back to work, I thought we had a worker bee that found his way off the reservation. That money thing is a hard habit to break.
Glad you found gainful employment.

Congrats on the new job. You can't keep an old aircraft maintainer down for long! I retired from active duty in 95 and was rehired by the AF as an advisor maintaining the B1-B. I look forward to retiring and spending more time camping too.

The camp stove set up got to my curiousity, so I checked out all of the pics. Well, all I can say that is some nice sheet metal work!!!!!!:D
The set up looks great! I can really appreciate the work of a true craftman.

Thanks mcrider,
I've made 9 of them now. Seems others have liked it too and just had to have one of their own. :)
