Will you have it with you in Helen? It looks good. If you bought two lights to do the job that this one does, it would cost more.
Gary

P.S. See you in Helen. Talked to Groundhog, and Deb today. All systems go.

See you in Helen. Talked to Groundhog, and Deb today. All systems go.Just found out about these headlamps myself so I won't have one in time for the Helen ride but I am a go too. Richard (BMW) may ride up as well (attended Chillout '11 and '12).

Here is a link to the REI page that contains the SnowMiner headlamp. There are 3 or 4 pages of headlamps and when you compare the price of the Snowminer @ $55 bucks and change it is actually a lot cheaper than many of the lights listed. In some cases it is more than a $300 BUCKS LESS! And, like others have already mentioned this lamp will actually do the job or two or more lights. Looks like a deal to me! P^

Almost forgot to post the link:http://www.rei.com/search?cat=40006352&seq=21&hist=cat%2C40006352%3AHeadlamps

Snowminer is getting some good reviews. Most of the issues were heavy/bulky which is pretty much a non issue for us motocampers. Santa just might have to bring me one of these.

I'm hoping that I can get to another camp soon, maybe in the next month or so! Local riding is good and as the old saying goes, any ride is a good ride, but I'm really needing a road trip! P^

Only problem I see with the Snowminer is that it gives 360 degree lite even in the headlamp position, means ya would have to wear a hat or the light is gonna be in your eyes for walking:eek:. Might not bother some people but would me. Ill stick with my regular headlamp and uno's light string for inside.

Im poor...no $$...I'll have to stick to the headlamp that clips to the bill of my ballcap I got for $9.99... works great for me...and im hands free...it also makes me watch what I'm doing since the light shines where I'm looking...

Got mine last week. A little bigger than I expected. I was using the tiniest headlamp (although 80 lumens) and had the tiniest lantern (that fit in the palm of my hand, and was plenty of light for inside my tent) so not a tremendous amount of space saved. However, it is one item rather than two. Haven't tried it in the field yet so the jury is still out.
I do like the dimmer control better than a 2 or 3 way switch. You can really dial in the exact amount of light that you want. Y'know, I find myself using the lantern inside my tent less and less. Once I get in for the night, I tend to curl up with the ipad mini and all the lantern does is attract bugs.
