Today I was visiting a friend who owns a gun shop in Monroe, WI.
He and I were the only two in there, and we were BSin' while I was also doing a bit of shopping..

All of the sudden he yells out " Oh NO!!! Lookout Dan!!! " and then he starts running away from the front of the store.. A second later I hear a CRASH as glass starts falling in from the front windows!!!

Where I was standing, I couldn't see the little old lady who had driven up the sidewalk, over a parking meter, and up into the front of his store..

His store cat who's famous for sleeping in the front window was right where her bumper came through the glass, but luckily a lady walking by had just tapped the glass at the cat, and then took two steps before the driver drove up, just missing the cat woman.. The cat hightailed it for the back of the store (as we all did).. As luck would have it, the front tire hit a steel post which kept the car from continuing on into the store..

I pushed the now stuck front door open to check on the driver.. She was very shaken and the doors were locked.. We finally got her to unlock her doors.. I reached in and took it out of Drive and shut the car off, while trying to calm her down, along with several other people who rushed over.

She actually took the worst of it with a bump on her nose when it hit the steering wheel. It wasn't fast enough to set off the airbag...

Of course the entire city of Monroe's first response, police, fire department, etc. arrived very shortly after, and after everyone checked themselves over, everyone was OK..

Now for the weird part.. From what I was told, she was the same person who did this just a month ago!!! That time, (and it was the same spot) she drove over the meter, smashed an anchored trash can, and up the sidewalk before stopping. The sidewalk has tables and chairs where people eat at the little diner next door..

Here's a few pics.. Note the nice red Wing (mine) that didn't get run over, and how close it was.. (actually, I was closer to getting run over than the bike).

That's how I spent my day of vacation... I'm guessing my bike will be on the front page of tomorrow's Monroe Evening Times..

You were real lucky. Sure glad no one got hurt.
By the way, what are you going to do today to top the first day of vacation? LOL

Glad no one was injured, especially the wing. Twice in a row, that is bad. Not putting anybody down, or trying to cause stress on the forum, but after a certain age there should be stricter (spelling ?) license exams. My wife's 90 year old aunt just went into the DMV and renewed her DL, with only an eye test. She wouldn't even drive herself the 12 miles to the office.

The rest of the weekend went very nicely. I grabbed my KLR and wandered over to the Mississippi river and wandered, hunting for the elusive gravel roads.. Found several and found some cool stuff to take pics of, too..

This one's my favorite.. Old stone house just south of Lansing, IA..
