St. Andrews State Park is located off of Thomas Drive in Panama City Beach. US Highway 98 runs nearby, while Interstate 10 is approx. 45 minutes away. It sits right on the Gulf of Mexico.
Weather:
Hot and humid in the summer, can reach freezing tempatures in the winter. Being on a narrow penninsula, it is a few degrees cooler in summer and a few degrees warmer in the summer.
Campground Condition:
St. Andrews is kept in top notch condition. There are 176 family campsites in two areas with electricity, water, picnic tables and grills or fire rings. The sites are roomy and most provide plenty of privacy with well placed shrubbery. Look around and you may find a great site that will make you forget you have neighbors. There are great beaches (Panama calls them "Florida's Most Beautiful Beaches"), 100s of deer, trails, a turpentine mill display, gators, and more.
Bathroom/Shower Facilities:
Plenty of facilities, and very well kept.
Campground Road Conditions:
The roads through the park are in good condition. Just watch for the deer.
Personnel/Host/Ranger Attitude:
As with most Florida parks, the rangers are friendly and knowledgeble.
Area Attractions:
Panama City Beach is a major tourist attraction, so there is plenty to keep you occupied. Shopping, 5-star restaurants, fishing, golf, a new Ripley's shaped like the Titanic and tons more. Try coming during Thunderbeach, but make reservations early if you do. It's a smaller version of Daytona, but still draws tens of thousands. Be sure to try Mama's BBQ near the park entrance (tell them Mark the JOker sent you), and the famous Ms. Newby's Bar (not Newby's II next to Mama's). It's a biker mecca. On Sundays the bikers take off to the woods for riverside music and fun at the Outpost near Bruce.
Area Riding:
NOt much to brag about.
