On June 10, 2007 I visited Glacier National Park and camped in the park's Sprague Creek campground. I found the campground to be clean and tidy and the campground host was very friendly and willing to help with my questions. I arrived during a light rain storm, so was able to pick a camp site that had a large tree sheltering the tent pitching area. I arrived at mid afternoon and at most about 25% of the camp sites were taken, so I just parked the bike and walked the campground by foot until I found the sheltered camp site I wanted. The whole campground is forested, so all the sites had some shelter, I was just able to pick the best! The road through the campground is paved, so even though it was raining, I had no trouble with riding my road pig to my camp site.

I posted some pictures from Glacier, the first couple are from the East entrance to Glacier. The others are from the road throught the park. The main road through the park was closed up in the mountains due to a large washout from the heavy winter snowfall. Park people said the Army Corps of Engineers was working on the repair and they hoped the road would be open by mid July. Missing Going-to-the-Sun Road was a major disappointment of my visit, I really wanted to ride that road. On the east side of the park, there were 13 miles of road open before you had to turn back around and the west side appeared to have about the same amount open. The pictures with the lake are from the west side of Glacier.

I resized some pictures of the campground and they now fit. The bubbling brook is Sprague Creek and the roaring river pictures are from when I rode up the west side of Going-to-the-Sun Road until I hit the spot where the road was closed.

Thanks Alan, I'll add this to the map.. lots of good pics. I also need to add the one we were at during our trip to the West coast and Canada.

Nice pics Alan. Man, that place looks beautiful. I hate I couldn't make it there this year, but Glacier is on the agenda for next year!

Sprague looks like a nice campground. I really like the forested camps that provide some sort of privacy among the campsites.

Not uncommon to be raining here. We ran into multiple, short rain/hail storms coming to the west side of the park, riding up SR 83 and when setting up camp, near Apgar/Lake McDonald.
The GTTSR was closed near Logasn Pass, when we were there June 28/09. They were hoping to get it open for the July 4th holiday, which was too late for us. :well
