In my search for a more FUN ride I have tried several bikes, that I still can carry camping gear on and travel. I finally got to test ride the Ulyssis Monday and was surprised. The bike was comfortable (thats saying somethig for a man of my frame size), powerfull, FUN and smooth when not idling. I caught myself reving the engine because I thought it was dying, then realized what I was riding and let it vibrate, I mean idle. The brakes were not as good as the ST1300, I had been told the huge single rotor was great but I must be spoiled as far as brakes. The chopped seat that came out in 07 wasn't very good but I was assured that the more comfortable earlier version was much better, and still available. The salesman had his uly there with the topcase and rack for saddlebags on it and they were well built, well attached and strong although the side cases were not on the bike. Even without the topcase the rack was large and flat, with a nice front bar slightly above the flat, so attaching a soft bag would be a cinch. Then I had the experience of riding a new F800ST BMW back to the campsite and was even more impresed, smooth, powerful and did I mention that you can almost think this little ride around a twisty, although I am looking for more of an adventure bike. Guess now I will have to wait untill the barvarians come out with the GS version to see what it is like. Oh well the Buel free bag is very nice, Thanks Buell. There are 3 more days to get the fre bag and Ride a nice bike to get it, you never know you might like it!

I test drove the Uly and had a blast! I don't know how far/long I would want to ride that bike. I have a 98 Suzuki Bandit, which is a ton of fun and I have taken on two 2K plus trips. I am also a a big guy, 6'-2" and 300+ lbs. I have done over 500 miles in one day on the Bandit, I have hauled camping gear for an 10 day trip and I have broken more traffic laws than I care to consider on it. It is an excellent, fun, all rounder bike.

I also don't think I could stay on the uly very longBUT it is fun. I was looking at a Bandit a guy from New Jersey had in Va. a few weeks ago, he was still asleep but his riding partner said the guy had nothing but good to say about it. Do you use soft luggage or some after market hardbags?
