On the California Oregon border off 395.

This is a really nice campground. It has electrical hookups and water. The road is paved including the campsites. The entire camping area is covered in grass and there are shade trees throughout the entire camp grounds. It was less than 15.00 to camp. The showers are nice

The bad--The mosquitos were TERRIBLE. It is next to an alkali lake that doesn't support fish, but the mosquitos must thrive in it. With no fish to feed on them, they were everywhere. I put a little Repel on and it got them off of me, but I was surprised at how bad they were in this part of the country.

The area is scenic, but it is probably the least scenic of all of Oregon.

Shame about the mosquitos, as it sounds otherwise like a very nice place to camp. I've ridden past there several times but never camped.

Maybe it'd be just fine with a bit of a stiff breeze to keep the bugs off.

Not much choice for camping around there, that I know of, unless you can get back into the N.F. a ways and find an unimproved spot off the road. Cedar Hill, Dog Lake, and Lofton Reservoir campgrounds are not too far away, though access might be problematic, depending on bike and conditions. May have been paved by now.

I once camped in a N.F. campground not far off 395 in northern Ca., between Termo and Likely, I believe. I think it was basically west of Moon Lake. I remember logging truck traffic late into the evening and very early next morning. Very desolate otherwise, pretty rough as far as N.F. campgrounds go, and I don't remember there being any water. Had the place to myself.

I was ther in early Sept, 08. Only a few mosquitos then. It was in the high 80's but cooled down just fine. I sat outside for about 3 hours ,through dusk, reading and had only couple buzz by. Maybe a seasonal problem?

Other than that I liked the place as a fine overnite stop. Oh, the showers are nice, not timed either.
