I'll be doing my annual solo pilgrimage adventure in early September. Short vacation this year, so I'm relegated to northeastern NM. I'd like to camp nearly every night. Might get a room one night to take a long hot shower and wash clothes in the sink :D

Considering Enchanted Circle area east of Taos. Want tent camping places that don't cater to RVs.

I didn't see NM on the state-specific sub-forum, so I thought I'd ask here.

Thanks!

Try Coyote Creek state park out of Mora, great area and river. RVS have there own spot you want be close to them. I was there last sept and it was very cold at night. It is in Mountains near Taos, Angel Fire, Red River and Raton ,Great riding. Near Pecos Wilderness. A great place to camp. some National Forest campgrounds near Sipipu ski area.. Its late does this make sense. I go to that area the middle of Sept let me know . A good KOA at Las Vegas New Mexico rent a cabin and sleep inj a real bed and hot shower.

We just don't have anyone that has reviewed a NM campground.. I need to do one on Sipapu ski lodge, that was a nice little campground.

I am in that area a lot. Tres Ritos has some free camps in that area. As was mentioned: Sipapu is great, Nat'l forest ones all over. Fairly nice one in Eagle Nest. I prefer staying at my sister's cabin 7 miles up the mountain from Sipapu ;-)

Do all of these places have level hard parking?? I seem to remember someone parked a little down hill in the sand and had to have some help getting out ,;)

Sipapu had a hard packed dirt drive with lots of grass for the tent area. It was next to a stream which was very nice so you could even go fishing if you wanted.

Coming off the road to the tent area was a decline that went from paved to dirt and it had a pot hole or two but wasn't anything you'd need a dual sport bike for.

Joe you would have to show those photos. Now I gotta stop right in the middle of catching up on honey do's, load the dirty bike [from last trip] and do it all over again. I just back from Mora, Sipipu, and Taos 9 days ago. i have about 5 more days of work around the house and will be on the road again for a week or two. Being a teacher is good for bumming around during the summer. Im thinking about Oury Colorado and all points in between this trip.

Joe that looks like a great place, Elzi has a bit of a height problem with her Wee-Storm so parking can be a bit of a problem from time to time but that wont stop her. .:tent3: :ic1:

I don't have a good shot of the little road but it was flat enough to find a good spot to park. It has been just over 4 years since the pics so I don't know if it's the same or paved now... Maybe Ben will take some updated pics on his next trip... hint hint.
