Im considering a trip to Coyote Creek State Park New Mexico [north of Las Vegas New Mexico] the first part of June. This is a great park in the mountains ,so it will be nice and cool. Fishing is great, mountains are made for riding. Spend a few days at Coyote Creek then
spend an afternoon and night in Taos acting like an old Hippy drinking NA beer. Any one is welcome to ride along or stay and fish. I will be leaving from north of Houston Tex,going thru
Abilene,Lubbock,Clovis Santa Rosa,Las Vegas New Mexico then Mora New Mexico.

Mora (shudder), Las Vegas NM (shudder again) bad memories of those places from 2 years ago when I went down near Mora, (broke Hip and Pelvis) and spent 2 days at a very bad hospital in Las Vegas NM before getting flown back home.

However, went back through that exact area last year, made it up to Taos and had a really good trip..Very beautiful area.

Yep

I have been going there for a few years now. There is one place on 518 near Sipipu that keeps water on the road in a curve, makes for a good pucker. I camped there mid March and woke up to snow and 28 degrees Haymie the ranger told me it was not going to improve for a few days. I split back to the low lands before it melted and turned to ice. It only snowed in the Mts but it was a slippery ride back to Mora. Hope I dont need to try the hospital out.
Thanks for warning.

I think Sipipu has the best prices of any place in the state ,and owned by some great folks ,even though the grand father gave up attempting to teach me to ski. It is just not in Texas blood to ski. Snow is made to build tiny snow men. At least in my part of the state.

I'd join you but I'm booked in June. I'll be at Inks Lake 7-10 and at Bonnaroo Tn 13-18. That's a long ride to NM, how long a trip are you planning? If you need a place to rest in Abilene, let me know. If I'm here, you're welcome to tent at our place or use our 5th wheel. We live on 4 acres out in the country.

I will be at the Abilene KOA next to motel 6 about 7 or 8 Pm Thurs May 31, if you want to drop by for a cup of coffee. Not sure if I will be in tent or cabin. It depends on weather. If it rains I will opt for the cabin for sure not worth setting up and taking down in the rain for just a few hours sleep. I will be on a maroon and gold nomad with a trailer of the same color.
