Mid June I plan on being in the Crater Lake area. I will be heading south out of Washington on US-97, then heading east on OR-140. Nice pictures.

Sorry the pics are currently down. i think the host web site is being worked on.

Regarding camping spots, they really are all over!! Everywhere!!!
1. First choice could very well be Lake of the Woods resort.
Here one can tent camp, trailer camp, rent a rustic cabin, or just throw a pad on the ground.
There is a sandy beach, long or short hikes, fishing, boat rental, bicycle rental, mtn bike trails, and even a small resturant / bar.
It sounds big, but it is NOT - at all.

2. If you want dirt-road remote; consider 4-mile lake, which is like 7 miles north of Lake of the Woods. No services. But is right next to nice lake and the Sky Lakes wilderness area.
3. If you want a larger lake, Hyatt is a good choice. It has a fair sized camping style resort.
4. If you want close to Ashland, and the city's "granola" culture, or Oregon Shakespeare Festival consider Emigrant Lake, 10 odd miles east of Ashland

Loop / nice back-road rides are all over:
- Crater Lake
- Umpqua River
- Rogue River
- Applegate
- Sterling Crk (hidden, and so very nice)
- Black hollow
- Green Springs
- Butte Falls
- Elk River
- Smith River Rd. (very nice way to get to or from the Oregon coast - way WAY way better than traffic-filled hwys)

If you are planning on being in the area post up here and we can discuss all the loops and rides throughout the area - cause if you like mtn lakes, streams, pine trees, and sweet back-country roads, this is THE area.
