It may be old news, but I discovered a new Google thing that lets you create your own map routes for private or public use.

So I tried mapping a simple little NE-SD shortcut (http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&t=h&om=1&msa=0&msid=114508929871567670173.00000111c7f77bb966de8&z=7) I use through the Sandhills area. It works pretty well if you want to define a favorite route for your club or whatever.

You can then save and link to the map later--as a way to/from a favorite camping area, for example or a tour route.

Maybe one of these days they'll tie in the GPS coord's. as an option in downloadable GPS-compatible form, or even uploadable "breadcrumbs" to re-create the route you took in Google for others!

Cheers!
