I'm not sure if this is how things work here so here goes...

I'll be doing a Palo Pinto cruise in Tx this weekend. Plan is to start from the Meridian State Park with stops in Hico (http://www.codytradingpost.com/) at the motorcycle apparel shop and Stephenville for lunch at the Hard 8 BBQ (http://www.hardeightbbq.com/), then on up hwy 4 to Jacksboro. From there it's Possum Kingdom state park for camping saturday night. Everyone is welcome to ride any or all of the trip. I've read that hwy 4 is a breautiful ride thru the Palo Pinto mts, so I want to try it out.
Y'all come ride, it should be a beautiful day! If anyone has done this ride please give us a review.

Let use know the condition of hwy 4 is in north of I-20. Last time I rode hwy 4 ( the good part ) it was a little rough. :(

The road was in good shape, looks like it was recently repaved. The ride was great, except I got stuck behind an antique car club near Lake Palo Pinto. Also, now that my kids have grown, I don't keep up with school days and I didn't realize it was spring break. Possum Kingdom was packed! Barely managed to get a spot.
Check this out, I saw a couple other bike campers, and one was towing a boat! It was about a 10ft jon boat on a trailer with an outboard motor and everything. Darndest thing I've ever seen!

Did you get any pics of that boat being pulled by a bike??? :D
I might someday put a hitch on my scoot and pull a canoe along. Just think of the possibilites!

A boat like that isn't very heavy compared to the houses that some like Mac and Chris pull LOL

Glad you had a good time at Palo Pinto.. I'm on call the next couple of weeks so the best I can do is ride to work.

You know those trailers that look like cars? Beetle, 57 chev, etc?? Anyway I once saw a motorcycle cargo trailer that looked like a boat. From a distance it was impossible for me to tell it was a cargo trailer. Was pulled by a harley.

I didn't get a picture, but it was a regular jonboat with a small outboard motor. I like the canoe towing idea. I might have to rig up a towing system for one. Probably some PVC and a couple of wheels is all that's needed.

I saw a phot on the internet once of a Valkryie pulling a canoe on a trailer. the trailer was upright and had gear inside of it, icechest etc. That would work great until it rained and then that canoe would get real heavy, real fast. I want to get one of the harbor freight trailers and mount a truck tool box on it and carry my kayak on it as well.

There are lots of wingers that use the HF trailer as an entry level trailer to see if they really want to spend more or if they'd even use a trailer much at all. Have heard lots of good things about that setup.
