I've read the seam sealing threads, but what about the 3M (or other brands) spray waterproofing on the rest of the tent? I did mine last year, but was lucky enough to not have camped in the rain. Do any of youse guys spray the tent sides/rainfly with this stuff? Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions.

I've never tried that on a rainfly. I think that the real weakness is the seams and once that's covered you'd probably have to have a pretty old tent for the rest of it to leak... just guessing.
I do use the campdry spray on my caps before a trip just to try and keep my head dry.
I use a product called Camp Dry. Spray it on the rain fly and exposed areas of the tent and let dry. Smeels really strong for about a day. Water from a garden hose runs right off.
I also use it on my soft bags and anything else I want to help along.

I will spray any old, well used equipment with Camp Dry if it looks like it needs it. But I don't spray any new tents with it... unless we're talking about a really cheap WalMart tent with a very small rain fly!
I too have sprayed a cap for waterproofing.... it wears off....

Wal-Mart has a product with an orange lid...can't remember the name of the product but it's in the camping section.
I used it on my last tent and it makes a real difference on the cheaper dome variety tent that I have utilized up to this point.
My new Coleman boasts that it already is protected...we'll see.
