Last weekend was the 12th annual Death Valley Daze at Furnace Creek Death Valley. Weather was picture perfect with no wind. Daytime highs in the mid 70's and lows at night in the 40's.
We left somewhat early (7:30 am) friday to meet with others for breakfast at the Summit Inn Cafe atop Cajon Pass on the 15. After Breakfast we headed out 395 and out across the desert. 50 or so miles out of Krammer Junction we took the turn off for Trona were we topped off and then headed out Wild Rose on down to the 190 were we ended up at Furnace Creek around 2:30 pm. We got camp settup and had a few drinks while we cooked dinner and watched the rest filter in and do the same. Saturday most went for a ride to places like Scotty's Castel, the devils race track, or the Ubehebe Crater. Me I chose to just stick around cook breakfast take in a swim in the heated olympic size pool and have a nice hot shower before heading back to camp to meet up with friends coming in that afternoon. The unorganizers had a Great raffle around 4:30 (nope, I didn't win anything) along with a group photo that earned you a raffle ticket for being there.

Up early and ready for the ride home on Sunday by 8:30. Route home was to head towards Vegas on the 190, catch the 127 down to Baker where we stopped and had a bite to eat at the Mad Greek. Traffic wasn't a problem as we were all home by 2:30 that afternoon.
