If you have a bike like a Goldwing where the back seat has passenger arm rests then a duffel bag isn't always the best option.

I found the Cabela's Boundary Waters II Backpack after getting one of the same type of Duffels.

For those that don't know what a roll-top is, it's got one opening at the top and you roll it down and squeeze the air out of it to seal it and make a waterproof seal. There are no zippers. The ends of the roll top snap to the sides of the bag and there are two additional snaps to go across the bag to secure it even more. It also have built in carrying straps like most duffels and it also has an optional shoulder strap if you want to use it.

I actually cut the shoulder straps off mine, with the exception of the very top one. For those I ran a couple strap from my frame, under my seat, up through the back of the passenger seat. Those two straps will attach to the top of the backpack and keep it very stable, I also strap the sides to the passenger grab rails but it's not necessary, I just always strap things down as tight as possible.

Click the pic below to go to the cabela site and see more details, I got the Regular size ((9"D x 16"W x 25"H) 3,600 cu. in.)

I decided to post a long-term report on this bag since so many have had good
experience with it's little brother - or big brother... The Cabella's Waterproof Duffel (http://www.motocampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13)

I cannot count how many times I've used this bag since I got it in December of '05 but it's
been all over Texas and to the West coast, Canada, The Smokies... you name it...

It's endured 100+ degree temps, downpours and below freezing temps.

GREAT BAG! It's softened up just a little as anything would after
using it a while BUT, it has not shown any signs of weakening. Both of these bags are roll-tops
so they give you the ability to pack a little less or more depending on your trip and you just
roll it down more or less.

I haven't had it quite 2 years yet but I think I've put it through more than 2 years worth of
trips. I sold my Duffel version to Trailace and he seems to like the quality of the bag as
well.

I still think these two bags are the best bags out there for the money and offer you the
best in gear protection as well as durability.
