I have been lurking now for a couple of months and have read every thread. I am very impressed with the amount of knowledge and experience you all have with moto-camping.
I thought it was time I introduced myself. I have been car-camping on and off most of my life and have been riding motorcycle for only about 10 years. I have only taken a couple of motorcycle camping trips and loved it.
My DH and I are semi-retired and live full time in our RV. We spend our winters in AZ and our summers in SD.
I like to camp, he doesn't, so when I go, I usually leave him home and either go with girlfriends, or go on my own. I have minimal camping gear, i.e. tent, sleeping bag and mat. And small 1 burner stove and mess kit. I try to travel as light as possible.
I am looking forward to sharing information, learning more, and making it to a meet and greet sometime.

Welcome from Western Kentucky. It sounds like you have everything you need except for a destination. Just pick a camp out and head that way, you will meet some great folks and have a good time.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. Welcome neighbor from tropical Minnesota! I'm sort of a minimalist too but when I get together with this group I never seem to want. Great bunch here and you are more than welcome to join in the fun!

Hey. The STOwners has a camp out at Spearfish in June...For one reason or another, there is a lot of the peeps here that will be there. I will be...and I don't ride an ST...there is no doubt in my mind that you or any of the guys here would be welcome!

Black Hills is a great place to ride...I was there a couple of days last summer...

Welcome, LP. Just passed thru Parker last Sunday on the way to a lunch in Wickenburg. Ya need to subscribe at st-owners.com. Lots of folks here belong there too, and we have LOTS more events, in both AZ and the northern tier.

I camp many nights during my travels around the country carrying basically the same gear. One big bag and my panniers can carry me indefinitely, long as I can find an occasional laundry and grocery.

There are several ladies on st-owners.com who camp either alone or with their partner, you would feel at home there too. :D

Welcome to the forum. Lots of great folks here and plenty of knowledge about moto camping. My mom lives in Mesa, so I get to AZ every year, and I prefer to do that on the motorcycle.

So ... is it safe to say you're one of those snowbirds? Winter in AZ, summer back home?
