Took a meat thermometer with the long stainless shaft and just stuck it down in the neck wiring portal of the triple tree, leaving
the plastic cover on the shaft - seems to fit snugly, and of course, I polished it first...

...When my boyeez is feelin' frozen, I get curious as to just how cold it really IS! Last Sat. morning it wasn't
even that bad (38) and we were freezing after a late start...had digested our breakfast. Once fed, were warm again.

Lets just hope you never find yourself riding in the upper portion of that thermometer's range ...
Ya'd be feeling like an oven baked Christmas goose ... :chick1: ...
Wouldn't a small 'outdoor' type thermometer be more realistic? ... :think1:
Of course I guess the one you have could do double duty ... Could always stick it in your steak when you wern't ridin ... ... P^

That has a good, large readable scale.
I have a small thermometer (http://www.rei.com/product/408047/rei-zip-o-gauge-thermometer)attached to the slider on one of my tank bag's zippers to satisfy my curiosity as to how cold/hot it is when riding. Thing is pretty darn accurate! P^

I actually have two of those.. one hooked to the pack on the back of the bike and one on the zipper on my jacket.. Backside of it has a wind/chill matrix..

Georgia midsummer.
I just had a couple of these laying around, so technically free. I like gauges anyway, and I can read this while riding. I'm not sure about the windchill index working on it though, as it's not a wet gauge and it's probe is still in the plastic tube. I'd rather just know the temp of the day; I can figure my own chill index.

I can figure my own chill index.
I don't recall ever seeing a chart that listed 70-80 MPH winds anyway.

like magic rock for my boss, He wanted all these gadgets for his computer so he could tell what the weather was outside and he had a 15 foot window in his office, I asked him about the magic weather rock outside his window, Told him if it looked wet it was raining a, if it look dry it was not, then told him if it was covered with white stuff it was snowing

The meat thermometer is surprisingly accurate. Have had one on my GSA for years. Mine was given to me by a friend while helping him move. During the move he found out he had too many of them.:)

I'm curious. Does the slight breeze behind the windshield cause it to drop? And I wonder if you had the probe totally out in the breeze if it would give an accurate wind chill. Maybe you'd have to have one of those wet bulb thermometers for that?

I brought this up once and told that wind chill isn't measured this way and doesn't show up on this kind of thermometer. I've had it mounted in many places on different bikes. It does rise when parked as the heat from the engine rises up. What iv'e found is that it needs to be out in the wind for an accurate reading.
