I know it's early but starting to put together a motorcycle trip for next July. Most everyone will be camping, some in Bunkhouse campers and others in 28 - 32' toy haulers. Have found 2 campgrounds with favorable reviews, 1 being Snowy Peaks RV Park and the other Valley RV Park. Would appreciate comments about those 2 or others in the immediate area. Any campground we use will have to have clean restrooms/showers as well as electric hookups and water. Your suggestions, especially from those who have camped there, will be much appreciated.

QC Goldwinger, see you haven't gotten replies. There is a campground south of Buena Vista called Chalk Creek Campground. It has a large flat area for small campers and tents, showers/restrooms but I don't remember if it has electrical hookups, it has been quite a few years since we camped there. They are biker friendly and have a small store there for some items. Not far from Buena Vista either. Also near a small stream and along the Arkansas river.

Thank you for your replies. After a lot of diligent work browsing through various web sites, ended up making reservations for 20 people at Snowy Peaks RV Park & Rentals. Believe it or not, at the time we reserved the spots, ended up having 4 Bunk House users end up on 2 camp spots. I think there was 2 campsites left in the entire campground for the 10 days we will be there.

It's not the type of campground you are looking for, but I have camped at Cottonwood Campground/Lake, west of Buena Vista several times in the past. Took kids from church on a camping trip there, and a couple of personal trips. It's primitive, which means there won't be too many people. Pit toilets, but there was water the last time I was there. At night, the stars will be so big and bright, you'll think you're in Texas.

Take Cottonwood Pass Road/CR306 to the west. Turn left on CR344 when you see the sign for Cottonwood CG/Lake. It's pretty easy to find on a DeLorme Colorado Atlas & Gazetteer, or an appropriate GPS topo map.

Millsaps' link to campgrounds helped me find Cottonwood Lake Campground: http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/psicc/recreation/camping-cabins/recarea/?recid=12650&actid=29

You have made me put this back on my camping list!

Thanks to those who commented. We have chosen to camp at Snowy Peaks RV Park and Rentals. Campers wanted/needed electricity, water, sewer hookups. Busy place as they are mostly booked up already for next July.P^
