I got this cool watch for Christmas, the only thing it doesn't have is a compass but that's okay..
I'll do an update review after I've taken it out on a camping trip and have more experience with
it but one thing I do like is it's nice enough for the office and durable enough for the campground.
It has a barometer w/idot icons, thermometer, typical alarms and also an altimeter which I
could care less about but will be fun to play with.

Update:
The watch is kinda big. On the timex site it's listed as an XL just like another Expedition watch I have but this one is more XXL compared to that one. If it was just a bit smaller it would be the perfect size for me. For someone taller, it's probably a good size.
I was hoping I could wear it to work but I can' button my sleeves over it so it would only be used for MotoCamping trips. I already tried it with all my gloves/jacket combinations and it seems to be okay in that respect.
The Temp guage on it is somewhat disappointing as it's inaccurate if it's on your wrist because your body temp warms up the watch. So, that function is useless unless you leave the watch on the table or something and who wants to leave a watch off your wrist.
The Barameter is cool, over the last few days it has accurately predicted the weather for the next 6-12 hours, nothing real slick here as it's just measuring the barometric pressure changes. The Altimeter I have yet to really mess with but it wasn't my big reason for having the watch anyway.
My main requirements for what I wanted in a watch are:
1 - size (failed)
2 - Temp guage (failed - but understandble, no reason to have a temp guage on a wrist watch)
3 - waterproof (passed)
4 - barometer (passed)
5 - durable (passed - this is a tough watch, that I know)
6 - alarms (passed, it has 5 you can set)
For the size alone, I will return this watch and look for something without a temp guage.

How thick is it?
looks like it has to be bout 1/2"
I could just see clipping it on everything I walked by...
I would have the crystal so bungered up I could not see through it.

Yeah, more like 3/4... a normal timex expedition watch, which is what I ended up with is close to 1/2 inch.. for me it wasn't so much the thickness as the overall size... it just looked and felt like I had a hocky puck on my wrist.. LOL

Yeah, I've got a Timex expedition Compass watch and it's not too thick, but it does feel a hockey puck. I do a lot of duck hunting in the swamps and bayous, and I have to have a compass. The watch is definitely cumbersome, but the features are useful. I don't think I would wear anything bigger than this. I know some guys that wear the ladies/youth expeditions, and although I wouldn't brag about it, I would wear one of those, but they don't make the compass watch in the smaller size.
Joe, do you know if they make any watches of this style in the youth versions?

No, I don't think so .. the problem as I understand it isn't that it's an adult size.. the problem is the sensors needed for an altimeter and barometer just have to be bigger and can't fit in a smaller package..
The expedition watch I have has a little rubber liquid filled compass that slips over the band. I don't know if they sell that separately but I'm sure it's something you could find somewhere if you wanted a smaller watch but need a compass attached.
