Weather:
The best times to visit the area is during the fall or spring. During those times it can by quite cool overnight and very comfortable during the day.
Campground Condition:
The sites are all in very good condition but the ground is hard with many buried rocks so be sure to bring a malet for getting your tent stakes in the ground.
The bathrooms are always clean and in good shape but there are NO shower facilities.
The sites are first come first serve so it's possible if you hit this during the peak season you won't find a spot.
There's a nice restaurant/gift shop near the Headquarters.Area Attractions:

River Road (170) runs from Presidio, TX eastward to Terlinqua/Study Butte, TX just before the entrance of Big Bend National Park.
All the roads within the park are very nice but you need to be aware of the washouts which accumulate sand/silt and can be slippery. There might also be water running over them depending on recent rainfall.
