The Houston BMW club will be going down early in January (7th I think)
The group will be staying at the ALPINE MOTEL in Alpine.
Not everyone will be on Beemers.. If I go I will be on my trusty '95 Honda Nighthawk 750.... it takes a lot to get me into a motel... I will be camping in the field behind the motel.

I did not know you could camp behind motel. Is it a camp ground I dont know about or a special thing.
It would be good if they had a tent camping area with shower and restrooms, I bet it would do well for those that like to sleep outdoors. The other places in town are full of RVs and folks that frown on bikes.

Davis Mtns State Park isn't that far from Alpine, and a great place to camp, nice showers and the best place in Texas to see stars.

Yes on Davis Mtns State Park. we have spent many summers and Christmas breaks there when my girls were at home. That was camping in 5th wheel, The youngest girl loved to watch the Javalinas. I think she fed them to keep them hanging around. With the kids up and gone the 5th wheel gets alot of rest, and the tent gets a work out.

Being from the north i have to ask WHAT the heck is that (Javalinas) Do you eat them or try not to be eaten by them ........:tent7:
I'm normally happy to be unaware of things crawling and rooting through camp LOL
I would have to have a night light on LOL

Pig like critter, uglier than xwife, smells worse than a wino, meaner than your third grade teacher, two inch long tusk, and runs in a pack. They will put you up a tree in a heart beat and wait for you to fall out. Some folks eat them but I have been told they taste real bad.
They are just bad tempered critters and dont like for you to get in their way. A few years ago the family and I walked up on a pack in a dry creek bed and spent about an hour on top of a large boulder while they rooted around at the base. They will not bother you if you dont mess with them. [not attack or any thing like that].

I jumped off of a small ledge a few years back surprised a mother boar with pigs that were under the ledge, glad there was a tree close by that a fat man could climb quick! Took 2 hours for the mother boar to leave!
