Good morning everone Another newbe from Las vegas NV. We have an 83 GL1100 I with a new Tagalong trailer. We it out last weekend for a trile run over to lake Mead, Boulder campground the only campground with trees!! We have a 6 man tent screen tent, stove, two chairs dubble sleeping bag, air mattes, dishes, pot&pans pota-poty,ice chest, coleman table, and tool kit. Yes the trailer is full when the wife gets done loading her cloths!! The trailer pulls great, but below 20mph the front tire acts light and unstable above 20mph ever thing is fine, would extending the toung help??
I have installed a deep cycle battery inside and wired it to a outdoor outlet and have two extenson cords I run to two work light with 12vdc light bulbs for light in the tent and the cooking table pluse i carrey two 110vac light bulbs so if we have 110 power at the site I just change the bubls to have light. I get a lot of info. from this site, Thank you all for your tips

Try reloading the trailer to cut down on tongue weight, light front end usally means to heavey tongue weight. Oh and welcome to the site. Lots of good people in here.

Welcome from AZ, 2nd recommendation on transferring weight distribution. I found this on a trailer towing site that might help you

Trailer Vehicle Hitch Weight—approximately 10-15 percent of a trailer's gross weight is designed to be loaded in front of the front axle and onto the hitching mechanism. This ensures needed stability for road handling. If your trailer is not stable, you may have a problem with not enough weight on the hitch. Here are some methods to figure out hitch weight:
Park your loaded trailer on a scale so that the hitch coupler extends beyond the end of the scale, but the tongue jack post (the post on the front of the trailer which rests on the ground when unhitched) is on the scale.
Block the trailer vehicle wheels, unhitch the tow vehicle, and obtain a weight rating. This is the curb weight of the trailer vehicle alone.
Place a jack stand (or 4" x 4" blocks) under the coupler (beyond the scale) so that the tongue jack post is supported off the scale and the trailer is fairly level. Note this weight rating.
Subtract the reading in #2 from the reading in #3 for the hitch weight.

Thank you all for your tip and info. I found the problem the hitch was extened to far to the rear cut 2.5 inches out of the mount rod and was able to move the ball plate in another two inches, now the down rods are streight down to take the load. Took the trailer out for a short run (60 miles) in town every thing is great now.P^

Welcome and enjoy .
I used to live in Boulder city.
Loved the lake mead road north as you passa couple of springs and can camp at one of them mid week and they had trees and less touries then
