Got pics? Here's how to post them:

Option 1: The quick (but not very good) way.

Attaching pics to posts. Okay for n00bs.

When you write a post you will see an option to add attachments. You need to scroll down below the area where you type your post, you should see this button:
http://blink.smugmug.com/photos/103434844-M.jpg

When you click that button, the following window comes up:
http://blink.smugmug.com/photos/103434849-M.jpg
Click the browse button to find a photo on your hard disk and upload it.

1. Your photo has to be small enough to post, which means it probably has to be re-sized after you fetch it from your camera.

2. You can only attach 5 images per post.

3. It uses disk space and bandwidth, making it harder to keep the site fast.

4. When people reply to your post, they can't display your image again, which they usually want to do.

Option 2: Open a SmugMug or Other Photo account:

SmugMug and some other photo site specialize in image hosting. They do the image resize thing automatically, allow you to post many images per post, and you can post to other message forums. They don't use disk storage or bandwidth, which helps keep the site fast.

Once you have an account, you can use the IMG button,http://blink.smugmug.com/photos/103434891-M.jpg , that you see above the area where you type when you post. The image button let's you specify an Internet address (URL) to identify the image.
http://blink.smugmug.com/photos/103434863-M.jpg

Ok so now you need to know how to get the photo URL.

1. Find the Photo you want to add to you post.
http://blink.smugmug.com/photos/95494996-S.jpg

2. Right click the photo and you will see this.
http://blink.smugmug.com/photos/103434887-S.jpg

3. Click Properties and you will see this.
http://blink.smugmug.com/photos/103434877-M.jpg
4. Highlight the URL.
http://blink.smugmug.com/photos/103434835-M.jpg
5. Right click the Highlight the URL and copy.
http://blink.smugmug.com/photos/103434856-M.jpg
6. Click the image button and Paste the copy URL into the insert Image box.
http://blink.smugmug.com/photos/103434873-M.jpg
This is what it will look like in your post. Make sure you paste over the http:// that is in the box. If you forget just delete it.

I hope this helps and Good luck. If you still need help just let us know.

Thanks Mr. Guy I checked out the thread.
Problem is in my computer, it's old and slow (kinda like me) and can't do very large pictures, takes forever to load.
Here is the best I can do.

On the first try, I clicked on the thumbnail instead of the real picture, duh.

Update 11/25/2008 - I see that the pictures from KodakGallery.com are not loading. I may need to use a different service like Smugmug.

I'm trying something here. I added a signature line that is my Webshots album page. Not too many pics there of camping, I generally put those in my album at STOwners dot com. I will put some of them into an album at Webshots.

I need to give a pitch to Webshots. I've been using them for a couple of years. Free service, you start with 1200 picture limit, it goes up 100 per month. Lots of room for me. And it's simple, obviously. I can do it:)

Anyway, I think my webshots page will show up down below here. I have a love of cars and trucks, most of the place is of those.

There is another way...if you have an account in photobucket like I do...simply left click on the phrase Image code under each picture(one at a time)it will briefly say copied...then navigate back to the post that you are creating and right click mouse on paste and wah-la..like so...its best to skip a line between the text of your post and the pic...this picture is on my desktop:D

OK. My picture book is back in the saddle:) I thought it might be my computer, I took Joe's name in vain, thought Webshots was eating me alive, changed AntiVirus supplier, etc., etc., etc. Turns out it was the power supply for my wireless modem. Let the darn thing flicker, but not long enough to kill the led lights. Anyway.

The Webshots link works fine and there are about 40 new pics in the Motorcycle album. One of Keith's (Blues Traveler) BMW and pit tootisie. Looks kinda like the Ducatti girls when the Heroin look was king:)

I really do like Webshots, best free service I have used.
